Anyavee Railay Resort Misleading Pictures

The Hidden Pictures of the Anyavee Railay Resort

The resort posts very beautiful pictures about its location but  in fact it does not have any beach since it is located on a swamp area while it takes about 30 minutes walk from where they drop you off until you get to the resort. Anyone with a luggage will suffer tremendously since no one will help him/her carry the luggage for the 30 minute walk to the resort. The rooms were infested with Mosquitoes but if you ask the Front Desk they will get you a spray to kill them. The Air Conditioner was not working in my children's room, they never exchanged the room because they were fully booked. The bathroom walls were stained with rusty water all over the shower and the sink was always clogged. There was no warm water simply because they had no water pressure. The two good things about this resort is the swimming pool, which is cleaned twice a day and the free breakfast bar.
The staff was also very rude. Please read all the reviews about  the Anyavee Railay Resort from other people in trip advisor before you book or reserve a room at this place. I created a website to show the hidden pictures and the misleading information about the location of the resort. The website is at http://anyaveerailay.tripod.com/ and http://anyavee-railay-resort.tripod.com/

Below are some of the Anyavee Railay Resort Visitors comments:

The Hotel is located not on the famous Railay Beach but on the other side of the bay - a quite muddz beach - if you can call it beach - with mangroves and a lot of plastic rubbsih. Having said that - it is only a few minutes walk to the other nicer beaches. But this way is poor maintained and you have to pass a really bad smelling garbage dump area with lots of rats. The rooms itself are quite ok but you can tell that this resort was not really build with love but to make quick money. The greens and garden areas are not maintained or not even finished, they do not provide soap - not to speak of something like a hair dryer . The berakfast was also very basic - enough though to survive but made with the least effort. The staff could have been more helpful when it comes to reccomendations about activities in this area. In total - if you want to stay in Railay - definately try a resort on the nice sany beaches at Railay west.If you have to staz at Anavee Resort as everything else was booked out out - bring a towel, soap and a hair dryer if needed.

The Hotel is situated at Railey East Beach - not very nice BUT - it is a short walk (5 min) from stunning beach - Railay West! We stayed at Garden View Room. Nice pool and nice breakfast buffet. Staff very friendly and helpful. Free welcome drink and fresh fruit platter. On our arrival, the room was decorated with Thai orchid. Clean bathroom but without tiles on the walls. Comfortable bed and nice balcony, but take only upstairs rooms - brighter and nicer views. Very recommended, good value with reasonable price. Would stay again :)

The hotel itself is okay in that the rooms are spacious and clean. My major complaint about it was its location. The hotel claims, and it's true, that it is located just a 5-minute walk to Railay West, which is the only beach you can sit and tan in. That 5-minute walk, however, is totally unpleasant, as you must walk through rocks, rubble, garbage etc. GROSS! Don't get me wrong, Railay Beach is a MUST-SEE...arguably the prettiest spot you'll go to during your entire stay in Thailand. Just plan ahead and make sure you get into Railay Bay Resort, which is the most centrally located hotel...and which was fully booked when I called.

The approach to Anyavee is a rubbish dump, a sewer drain that reaks, its the worst end of the beach and the tidal mangrove infront is full of rubbish from last nights party animals, not a good start! On arriving at Ayanvee resort we were greeted by a surly lady boy who had zero customer skills who gave us some super concentrated juice and told us to sit! On looking around the reception area we could see lots of clutter and it was obvious that some one did a lot of sleeping, hairbrushing and general grooming when not checking people in. We then went to our apartment that to be fair was OK but very unfinished. ie the bathroom walls were just concrete, no tiles, however the floor had nice tiles, there were many cracks in the walls that have been filled but not painted. The grills in the bathroom were completely rusted due to sea air but it had just been left. Bad and broken laminate flooring.Curtains were dirty with sun cream spray and sand was still on furniture from last guests. Plastic garden furniture you would expect from a resort!? etc etc. I went to reception to see if there had been a mistake as we had booked an upgraded room, she said that was it and showed me another room which was a lot worse! The grounds looked like a holiday camp, so please dont be mislead by resort, it is NOT a resort!! The pool was nice but small. There was a large water feature that had been left unfilled so now was full of rubbish, mud and leaves! Breakfast was a disgrace, one guest actually got quite upset with the amount of flies and shouted at one the lady boys (1 of 3)serving breakfast. It consisted of the super sweet concentrated chemical juice that had to be watered down, bacon gristle, mini hot dog sausage, uncooked fried eggs set on wet peices of bread. Jam with flies. Coffee that just wasnt coffee and 10 teabag tea. If you got down at 7am, you could have one of 10 croissants on offer!! We chose not to have the comp breakfast and went to Ya Ya for a delightful muesli yoghust and fruit bowl and "Real" Coffee. I forgot my universal adaptor and asked 3 different reception staff if they had one as no shops sold them, of course without even checking they said " no have". After the third no I went to the makeshift housekeeping office which is a desk and bed set up under next doors apartment and helped my self to one of a box with 20 in it! Great customer service. The resturant lay empty every night due to all the other restaurants doing fresh fish BBQ displays. Our "resort" chose to do a 10 inch lump of ice with 5 fish wedged in, and wondered why no one stopped to eat?? See Pics. You may think Im picking but for £75 a night it was a Rip off and truely awful. Considering for £90 we stayed at The Davis in Bangkok, where we had luxury spa, fantastic suite, bath with rose petals, attention to detail I dont see how Anyavee can justify the money!! It is very obvious that there is NO management onsite from day to day, the "kids" run the show and do it very badly. We stayed for 8 days so we were able to see constant bad practice on a daily basis. Do your self a favour and stay at Ya Ya for £12 A/c or book earlier and get in at Railay Bay down the beach for £75- £100

We stayed at the Anyavee for 4 nights in a wood bungalow. The hotel is fine. The room is fine...not as nice as many of the places we stayed in Thailand and it costs a bit more than every where else we stayed...though I think that is because it is at Railey Beach which is superb!! The free breakfast was fair...not nearly as good as the other free breakfasts we enjoyed at all the hotels we stayed at in Thailand. We loved Railey Beach...it is so gorgeous and much more laid back then the other areas we visited.

I totally agree with Thai2008's review of the Anyavee. The hotel is not a resort at all, and the staff couldn't care less. There are lots of ladyboys running the show who are more concerned about walking like catwalk models and doing their nails than whether the customer is happy. We booked what was supposedly a "seaview" room. We were put in a room on the bottom floor of a block of concrete with patio doors that didn't seem to securely shut. Had there not been a safe in the room, we would have panicked about how secure out personal items were. We were really disappointed on arrival. The room looks NOTHING like the pictures on the website. Horrid floral bedding with sheets that weren't big enough for the bed. An infestation of ants in the bathroom (which looked like a prison cell), and there were smears all over the walls. In addition, someone had left a brown present for us in the toilet and we had to ask reception to get housekeeping to remove it because the toilet wouldn't flush it away. She turned up with a mop to push it down and was sniggering the whole time like it was funny that we found it there on our arrival. We felt like booking out of there straight away! We soon realised we couldn't spend 5 nights in that room, and complained to reception that we were expecting a sea view room in the hope they would upgrade us. The lady boy said that if we could put up with the room for 2 nights then he would upgrade us to a superior room with a great view of the (paddling) pool for 3 nights. We reluctantly accepted. In fairness, the superior room was a lot more bearable but still the same tatty decor, concrete bathroom and ant infestation......and no sea view or a view of the paddling pool as promised. By this point we couldn't be bothered to complain anymore and made sure we spent as much time outside of the hotel as possible. Thai2008 was right about the breakfast......it was really bad. There were a family of feral cats hanging about and I debated giving mine to them. Although, it would probably be animal cruelty to inflict it on them. On the plus side, it is only a 5 minute walk to West Railay where the good beach is. There are also some nice places to eat. If you want breakfast, try the Viewcliff Restaurant, they do great scrambled egg and lovely coffee (turn left out of Anyavee and its just past the Diamond Resort - a 2 minute walk). Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone..........I think even the feral cats should find a new home.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 2 weeks in February on our first visit to Thailand. We arrived late on the first night and were told that the room we had requested was not available (wooden bungalow) but if we would stay in a standard room for the night we would get upgraded to a sea view superiour ,room the next day. The standard room was fine for the night and if you are on a budget go for it, was clean and had all the necessary amenities. We were moved to a second floor sea view room the next day which was great, it had a lovely big sun terrace and the room itself was great, really large and comfortable and the air con was great! the staff were all very helpful and friendly. The pool was lovely and there always seemed to be a couple of empty loungers just when we wanted them. the east side of railay bay is a mangrove swap and therefore no beach, but we felt it had a much better vibe, was a bit more chilled and young person friendly, whereas nearly the whole of the west beachfront is resorts and their restaurants, so not so much fun in the evening, although there is one bar at the end of west beaxh which is cool. there was some building work taking place all over the peninnsula when we were there and yes, there did seem to be areas that needed clearing near to the resort, but it's really important to remember the devestation that was caused by the tsunami and this will obviously take time and money to rectify completely. in all, we had the most amazing time at Railay bay and i would recommend a visit to anyone, the location os just stunning and i don't think it matters too much where you stay as most places in that price range looked similar, but Anyavee did have a lovely pool.

We stayed in a wooden bungalow at Anyavee Resort for a week in May 2008. The bungalow was clean, nice and - thank god - air conditioned. The hotel is, as most things on Railay, a bit overpriced for Thailand. Ao Nang is cheaper, but on the other hand - there are cars, lots of tourists and noises in Ao Nang that you won't find on Railay. The hotel staff were friendly and nice, but we had a few problems understanding each other. Most of the boys working at the hotel are ladyboys, so don't be afraid if the "lady" taking your order sounds a bit manly :) There is a small, clean pool in the area. Breakfast was ok, decent and tasted good, unfortunately there are lots of flies and stray cats. Railay east is muddy with lots of mangrove trees, definitely not a place for swimming. But if you're looking for a decent, clean and less expensive place to stay Anyavee is a good choice. It is only a 5 minute walk away from Railay west beach and Phra Nang beach, the second most beautiful beach in the world, is located only 15 minutes away from Railay east. I would stay here again, but if you want a bungalow next to the beach where you can watch the sunset, Railay Bay or Sand Sea Resort on Railay west would be a better choice.

DONT GO THERE! We have lived in Asia for over five years, traveling to a mix of hotels and resorts in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. Without doubt, this is the WORST place we have had the displeasure to visit. I say 'place' because I cannot refer to this place as a hotel. 'Dump' would be a fair and appropriate description. I will not go into the details of this horrifying experience as that has been described rather truthfully in previous reviews, but will give a few highlights, sorry...lowlights: - appalling service. we were treated like kids and shouted at by the main receptionist. were informed of the wrong departure times which led to missed flights. we were also accused of lying (can you believe that?!) to the staff over several issues which they mismanaged and tried to wriggle out of their responsibility for - misrepresentation of facilities. room descriptions and photos did not match reality. as did the pool. there was no view of the beach as billed, which was probably for the better as we are talking about a rubbish strewn dump - and generally not nice people staffing this place. this is very unusual in thailand. after living here for 2 years i can say that thai hotels generally give outstanding service - but here....it just sucks. full stop. probably due to lack of customer service training What makes me angry about this whole visit is my sister who travelled all the way from france with her family to stay with us and we had lined her up to stay at a tropical paradise. My blood boils when i think about it. I am trying to think about something positive to say about this place...but I really cannot. Not even a minor plus point. Very serious about this....pls don't touch the place. Keep searching on the net!

Stayed at Anyavee for 7 nights in March 2008. For a backpacker destination like Railay, Anyavee was reasonably good: rooms (superior) were large, grounds are nice (little cramped though), the small pool is nicely located and the breakfast was adequate. Contrary to few previous reviews, we experienced very good service. The staff helped us at the arrival, during our stay and with private boat departure all the way to Ao Nam Mao harbour. The location has its pros and cons: the lively east side is really laid back, away from day tourists and it's less expensive. But there's no beach, just muddy and dirty mangrove. It's only 10-15 minutes walk to to both Railay west and Pranang, which are both stunning. We didn't try the hotel restaurant. Two good options are nearby Diamond Cave restaurant (good food, great service) and Rock restaurant further away (good food, good service, fantastic views).  http://anyavee-railay-resort.tripod.com/
